Our standards for project, process and agile management
Founded in 1964, the International Project Management Association (IPMA®) is an international association based in Nijkerk in the Netherlands. IPMA® consists of member organizations from over 60 countries. In Germany, IPMA® is represented by the GPM (Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement), in Switzerland by the spm (Swiss Project Management Association) and in Austria by the pma (Projekt Management Austria).
IPMA offers a standardized understanding of the required project management competencies. These are described in the Individual Competence Baseline (ICB).
The Project Management Institute (PMI®), founded in 1969 and based in Philadelphia (USA), is the world's largest professional association for project management. The most popular of the 8 project management certificates offered is the Project Management Professional (PMP®) with over 1,000,000 certified project management professionals worldwide.
This standard is based on the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide).
PRINCE2®, developed in 1989 as a government standard for project management in the field of information technology, is a process-based project management approach. It is considered the de facto standard of the British government, but has developed far beyond IT and into other industries.
The certification program is administered by AXELOS Ldt, a joint venture company on behalf of the UK government.
Scrum.org™ was founded in 2009 by Ken Schwaber (co-founder of Scrum) as a global organization in the USA. Based on the principles of Scrum, Scrum.org offers comprehensive certifications to support people and teams in solving complex problems.
